
Awami League has instructed its leaders and activists to file complaints with the army against criminals who are torturing them.
‘We have received news from all over the country that in most of the police stations, Awami League leaders and workers have not been allowed to file general diaries with the police stations about the attacks and looting of their houses. Since the army has been given magistracy, there is an option to complain to the army itself to stop these criminals,’ the party said on a verified Facebook page.
It said that all the injured should submit written complaints to the nearest army camp through the family members, mentioning the names of the criminals.
The Facebook post stated, ‘We will have expectations from the army that they will bring all criminals, looters and terrorists to justice.’
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification about giving executive powers to the army on Tuesday amid the operation of the joint forces.
It mentioned that the army would have judicial power for the next 60 days.
Following the notification Awami League gave instructions to the party leaders and activists to approach the army.
Earlier, in a post on the Facebook page, the Awami League leaders and activists were ordered to make general diaries with the police stations regarding the attacks and looting of their homes.
Amid an unprecedented student-people uprising Sheikh Hasina fled the country on August 5.
Following her downfall, many of her party leaders have been arrested while most have gone into hiding.
Also residences of the party’s leaders and activists have also been facing attacks in many places.
