
Bangladesh women鈥檚 chess team earned their third consecutive win in the 45th Chess Olympiad after defeating a strong Swedish side by 2.5-1.5 points in Budapest, Hungary, on Thursday.
After the day鈥檚 results, Bangladesh women have earned 11 points from eight rounds with five wins and jumped 12 places up to secure 28th position from 40th.
In the eighth round, WCM Nusrat Jahan Alo and WIM Rani Hamid won against WIM AgrestInna and Zaritovskaja Margarita, while WFM Wadifa Ahmed drew against WFM Cramling Bellon Anna and WCM Walijah Ahmed lost to GM Pia Cramling.
Earlier in the sixth and seventh rounds, the Bangladesh women鈥檚 team defeated Uruguay by 3.5-0.5 points and the Dominican Republic by 2.5-1.5 points, respectively.
Bangladesh women鈥檚 team鈥檚 other two wins came against Saint Lucia and against Barbados in the first and third rounds, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh men鈥檚 team lost to Kazakhstan by 3-1 points in the open section and slipped to 84th place from 73rd with eight points after eight rounds.
IM Fahad Rahman and FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia drew against GM Makhnev Denis and IM Ansat Aldiyar, respectively, while FM Manon Reja Neer and GM Niaz Murshed lost to GM Nogerbek Kazybek and GM Suleymenov Alisher, respectively.
