At least four people, including a minor girl, were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Tangail and Panchagarh districts on Friday.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that a truck driver was killed in a collision between a truck and a covered van on Banani-Kakoli road in Dhaka early Friday.


The victim is Liton Bhawal alias Liton, 44, of Islampur in Jamalpur district. The accident took place at about 2.30am in the area.

Severely injured Liton was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead at about 3.30am, DMCH police camp in-charge (inspector) Md Farooq confirmed.

The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

In Tangail, two people were killed and two others injured as a truck crushed a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Dhanbari upazila of the district Friday morning, another BSS report said.

The deceased are auto-rickshaw passengers Abu Raihan and Mofazzel Hossain. They were the residents in the upazila.

Officer-in-charge of Dhanbari Thana Idris Ali said that the accident occurred in Baghil area in the morning.

One of the deceased died on the spot while the other breathed his last on the way to Modhupur upazila health complex, the OC added.

Police seized the truck.

In Panchagarh, a minor girl was killed in a road accident at Subouspara village in Debiganj upazila of the district Friday afternoon, BSS reported.

The victim is Sennya, 9, daughter of Md Sahinur Islam of Subouspara village of the district.

Police said that the accident took place as driver of a tractor lost control over the steering and hit Sennya. Later, She died on the spot.

Sennya was waiting beside the road for her mother.

OC of Debiganj Thana Sohel Rana said that being informed police rushed to the spot and arrested the driver.

‘A case has been filed with Debiganj Thana in this regard,’ the police official said.
