
The foreign secretary of India, Vikram Misri, said on Saturday that issues related to Bangladesh were discussed during the bilateral meeting between Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and US president Joe Biden at the Quad Summit in the USA, reports The Indian Express.
The two leaders discussed the situation during their phone conversation as well. Modi had flagged the situation of minorities, including Hindus, in Bangladesh, adds the report.
US president Joe Biden hosted Indian prime minister Narendra Modi, Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida and Australian prime minister Anthony Albanesein during the Quad Summit, in his hometown of Wilmington, reports AFP.
After a one-on-one meeting at his property with Australia’s Anthony Albanese on Friday night, he welcomed Indian prime minister and Japanese prime minister at his house on Saturday.
According to The New Indian Express, while addressing a press briefing in New York, Misri responded to a question on whether Bangladesh was part of the discussion with the Quad leaders, saying, ‘...These discussions cover subjects that are in the region. They may be of bilateral interest to one party or the other, but they do have significance beyond the region as well. And in this context, a number of situations came up for discussion. Bangladesh also figured in the discussions, and there was an exchange of views about the situation.’
