Two murder cases have been filed over the killing of three ethnic minority persons during the recent violence at Dighinala and Khagrachari sadar.

Confirming the incident, Khagrachari superintendent of police Arefin Jewel said that police filed the cases with Dighinala Police Station and Khagrachari Police Station on Saturday night.


‘As none family members did not come to lodge any complaints, we filed the cases against unidentified people,’ he said.

A case was filed over the killings of Junan Chakma and Rubel Tripura in Khagrachari and another was filed over murder of Dhanajoy Chama in Dighinala.

In Khagrachari unrest three minority community people got killed on September 19. As it spread to Rangamati on the next day, at least 50 houses belonging to minority community member were vandalised and set on fire.

On Septemper 19, a murder case was filed over the Md Mamun’s death that led Khagrachari to witness fierce violence and unrest on Thursday afternoon, leaving three people killed in Dighinala and Khagrachari sadar.

According to the case statement, the motive behind the murder was previous enmity between Mamun and three Bengalis accused in the case.
