
An Indian Border Security Force soldier, who was detained at the Pirganj border in Thakurgaon, was handed over to the relevant authorities through a flag meeting Tuesday afternoon.
The soldier was apprehended by members of Border Guard Bangladesh from the Chander Haat BOP of the 42nd Battalion at about 11:00am on the same day, although the specific reasons for his illegal crossing into Bangladesh remained unclear.
Lieutenant colonel Ahsan Ul Islam, commander of the BGB鈥檚 42nd Battalion, stated that the BSF soldier Upol Kumar Das was handed over to Indian authorities during a flag meeting at 4:00pm.
The meeting was attended by colonel Md Ariful Haque, sector commander of Dinajpur, lieutenant colonel Md Ahsan Ul Islam of the 42nd Battalion, and representatives from the BSF, including DIG Esaul, sector commander of Kishanganj, and acting commander commandant Alok Bhushan of the Ad Hoc 63 BSF Battalion.
BGB officials expressed strong objections to the BSF authorities to prevent such illegal border crossings in the future.
