The final matches of Gono Bishwabidyalay Inter-Departmental Football Competition-2024 were held on the university ground on Tuesday.
In women鈥檚 football, Politics and Governance department defeated Sociology and Social Work department with a margin of 2-1.
In the men鈥檚 football final, the Politics and Governance department emerged champion defeating the Bangla department by 3-2.
The competition began on September 8 at the central playground of the university. A total of 17 teams in men鈥檚 group and 14 teams in women鈥檚 group participated in this year鈥檚 football competition.
On the day of the finals, a friendly match was held between teachers and staff, said a press release.
The university vice-chancellor Professor Md Abul Hossain distributed prizes to the winners. Treasurer Professor Md Sirajul Islam and registrar (acting) Abu Muhammad Mukammel, deans of different faculties, controller of examinations and others were present on the occasion.
At the end of the competition, Sabina Khatun, a student of politics and governance department won the golden boot award as the best woman scorer and Shuvo, a student of the same department, won the award as the best male scorer.
A wonderful cultural programme was organised after the award ceremony. University students performed dance, song and recitation in the programme.
