Journalist leader Ruhul Amin Gazi, president of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists faction and chief reporter of The Daily Sangram, a Bengali daily, was buried at his village in Chandpur on Wednesday.

Ruhul Amin died on Tuesday night at a Dhaka hospital at the age of 71. 聽


His first namaz-e-janaza was held on Jatiya Press Club premises on Wednesday noon where journalist leaders, politicians and dignitaries placed wreaths on the body of Ruhul Amin Gazi.

Ruhul Amin is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.

He was suffering from kidney-related complications.

During his long imprisonment under the Awami government, he developed various physical issues, including back pain, high diabetes, and electrolyte deficiencies.

He was serving as the president of BFUJ for the fourth time and held various positions, including secretary general of BFUJ and president and general secretary of the Dhaka Union of Journalists.

Information and broadcasting adviser Nahid Islam, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami amir Shafiqur Rahman, secretary general Mia Golam Parwar and leaders of DUJ and BFUJ factions leaders including Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Abul Kalam Azad, Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Shawkat Mahmud, Kamal Uddin Sabuj, Shahidul Islam, Khurshid Alam and others placed wreaths on the body at the Jatiya Press Club.

After the first janaza the body was taken to Dhaka Reporters Unity where his second namaz-e-janaza was held and leaders of the unity and others placed wreaths on the body.

The body was then taken to his village home Gubindia in Chandpur, where his body was buried after holding a namaz-e-janaza there.

Ruhul Amin Gazi was born on April 22 in 1953 at the village Gubindia and he started his carrier as a reporter at The Daily Ittefaq.
