Language Movement hero and senior journalist Abdul Gafur passed away at a private hospital in Dhaka on Friday.
He was 95. He is survived by three daughters and three sons.
His son Tarikh Al Banna told that his father was suffering from old-age complications and due to cardiac arrest, he was admitted to the Asgar Ali Hospital in Old Dhaka.
His `namaz-e-janaza was held on the National Press Club premises and, journalists paid last respects to him.
After completing master鈥檚 degree from Dhaka University, Abdul Gafur worked at several dailies, including the Daily Azad and The People.
His family said that he was buried at the Martyred Intellectuals鈥� Graveyard in Mirpur.
