
Bangladesh made an early exit from the group stage of the AFC Under-20 Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers after their 4-1 loss to hosts Vietnam in their third match at the Lach Tray Stadium, Hai Phong, Vietnam, on Friday.
Bangladesh went two goals down inside half-an-hour as Vietnam forward Hoang Minh Tien scoring both the goals with the first one after a shot from the inside the six-yard box in the very fourth minute of the game.聽聽
Tien scored his second with a shot from inside the box in the 30th minute after Bangladesh goalkeeper Ismail Mahin stumbled while receiving a back pass from midfielder Asadul Islam Sakib.
聽Forward Piash Ahmed Nova headed the ball home from the box on a cross by midfielder Asadul Islam Sakib to make it 2-1 in the 41st minute for Bangladesh.
A minute later, Vietnam extended their lead when midfielder Le Van Quang Duyet鈥檚 fierce drive from the top of the box found the back of the net.聽
Vietnam captain Nguyen Cong Phuong made it 4-1 when his free-kick from right-top of the box beat Bangladesh keeper Mahin in the 80th minute.
With the loss, Bangladesh were in fourth place of the five-team Group A table with one point after they lost 4-0 to Syria and drew 2-2 against Guam in their earlier two games.
Bangladesh will play their final group match against Bhutan at the same venue on Sunday.
Vietnam were in second place with nine points from three games after their 5-0 and 3-0 wins over Bhutan and Guam, respectively, in their past two games.
The 10-group winners and five best runners-up of the 45-team qualifiers tournament will join hosts China in the 16-team final stage to be held from February 6 to 23, 2025.
