
The Border Guard Bangladesh on Thursday evening arrested Tipu Sultan, a ward-level Awami League leader in Cumilla city while fleeing to India at a location in the Nishchintpur bordering area in Cumilla district, while the Dhaka Metropolitan Police at the same night arrested a thana-level AL leader Abdul Jabbar at Kafrul in the capital.
Tipu, who was fleeing to India through Nischintapur border under Adarsha Nagar upazila in Cumilla, BGB 60 battalion Captain Lieutenant Colonel AM Jaber Bin Jabbar said on Friday.聽
Tipu, 52, is a close associate of former AL lawmaker for Cumilla-6, AKM Bahauddin Bahar, 抖阴精品 correspondent in Cumilla reported, referring to the police.聽 聽
Another AL activist, Marjanur Rahman, 48, was also arrested with Tipu, the report said and added that Tipu had allegedly direct involvement in opening fire on students during the recent student-mass uprising.
DMP assistant commissioner for media and public relations, Jahangir Kabir, said on Friday that the Kafrul police had arrested Abdul Jabbar at a location in the Kafrul area Thursday night.
He was arrested in connection with an attack on students during the recent student movement against discrimination.
