
A case has been filed against 36 people, including Patuakhali district unit of Awami League president Kazi Alamgir, in connection with the murder of former Bangladesh Nationalist Party lawmaker for Patuakhali-3, Shahjahan Khan, in November 2022.
Shahjahan’s son Shiplu Khan, also the general secretary in-charge of the Patuakhali district unit of Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal, filed the case with Patuakhali sadar police station Thursday evening, said the police station officer-in-charge Md Jasim.
He said that the plaintiff also accused 100 to 150 unnamed people in the case.
According to the case statement, former BNP lawmaker Shahjahan Khan, along with the party leaders and activists, left his home on November 4, 2022 to go to the party's divisional rally in Barishal on November 5 and the accused persons attacked him with sharp weapons on his head.
Shahjahan died while undergoing treatment at the Labaid Hospital in the capital’s Dhanmondi area on November 28, 2022.
His son Shiplu Khan told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that he did not get justice for his father’s murder during the AL regime.
‘Awami League leaders and activists in Patuakhali threatened me not to file any case. I want justice for my father’s killing,’ Shiplu added.
Shahjahan was elected lawmaker for Patuakhali-3 constituency in 1996
