Prochondo Collective, a multidisciplinary artistes’ platform, on Saturday staged its maiden theatre production staging ‘Praay Tin/Charjan’ at the Mukta Mancha of the Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.

The play, written by poet and playwright Zahid Sohag and directed by Sarwar Jahan Upol, premiered at the same venue on Friday. 


Revolving around a mother’s search for her disappeared son, the play sheds light on the emptiness of human life.

The play comprises some abstract nonlinear scenario to portray contemporary issues, including rape, extrajudicial killing, hostilities between different groups and tumultuous situation of an imaginary state.

Riasat Salekin, Farzin Fariha, Fariha Jannat Mim, Rabi Prarombho, Jessica Jacinta Chiran, Swarup Ratan Lalan, Jordan Niloy and Fahad Khan have portrayed different characters in play.

Nahian has designed the music of the play, while Zahid Sohag has designed the light, and Sarwar Jahan Upol has designd the stage for the play.

The production has been produced by crowd funding.
