Jahangirnagar University at a meeting on Sunday announced an increase in the financial allocation for individual research projects to encourage researchers to conduct quality research.

According to the decision, disbursement of allocation against a research project sees an increase of Tk 39,000, totaling Tk 1.45 lakh of an individual project in the financial year of 2024-25.


Therefore, Tk 7.2 crore will be disbursed against 454 research projects in the financial year.

The amount of allocation in the research sector was Tk 5.70 crore – Tk 1.06 lakh against each 460 research projects – in the financial year of 2023-24.

The decision was taken in the meeting of the Research Project Distribution Committee, chaired by the JU vice-chancellor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan.

Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan said, ‘We want to take the university in a better position in the World University Ranking. The fresh decision was made in connection with the desire of my administration.’

The JU pro-VC for academic affairs Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, pro-vice-chancellor for administrative affairs Sohel Ahmed, treasurer Md Abdur Rab, the JU registrar ABM Azizur Rahman, dean of various faculties, and director of the institutes, among others, addressed the meeting.
