
The BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology organised a human chain in Dhaka on Monday.聽
The human chain was organised to prevent the eviction of populated settlements, including the construction site of a university playground, academic buildings, local mosques, madrasas, and cemeteries, all threatened by the proposed construction of sewage treatment plants.
Led by the BUFT pro-vice-chancellor Professor Ayub Nabi Khan, the protest saw enthusiastic participation from faculty, students, staff, and local residents.
Speakers called on authorities to prioritise environmental protection and reconsider the project, emphasising the importance of maintaining a harmonious balance between development and nature to ensure a healthy living and educational environment, said a press release.
