Nalchity upazila administration on Sunday fined two people Tk 7 lakh for extraction of sand from Sugandha River in Jhalakati.
Upazila nirbahi officer Nazrul Islam led the mobile court at Dapadapia union of the upazila.
Ashrafur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Jhalakathi said on Sunday that the UNO operated the drive fined the two for illegally lifting sand.
