The orientation ceremony for the 128 students admitted to mathematics department of Dhaka University under the academic year 2023-2024 was held at the Rezaur Rahman auditorium of the AF Mujibur Rahman Mathematics Building on Monday.
DU pro-vice-chancellor (education) Professor Mamun Ahmed, dean of the Faculty of Science Abdus Salam along with guardians and teachers of mathematics department were present at the programme presided over by the chairman of mathematics department Md Shahidul Islam.
The pro-vice-chancellor welcomed the meritorious students who won the admission war and said that the mathematics department has world-class teachers and curriculum.
Science faculty dean Abdus Salam mentioned the necessity of mathematics education. He said that the need for mathematics is present in all fields, said a press release.
Mathematics department chairman Shahidul Islam urged everyone to acquire the necessary knowledge in technology including artificial intelligence to meet the expectations of the nation. 鈥極therwise, we will fall behind as a nation,鈥� he warned.
