Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit has frozen the bank accounts of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina鈥檚 son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul and nephew Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby in connection with the Awami League鈥檚 think-tank Centre for Research and Information.
The BFIU on Monday directed all banks and financial institutions to freeze transactions linked to these accounts.
Joy serves as chairperson of CRI, Putul as vice chairman and Bobby as trustee.
BFIU also froze former minister Nasrul Hamid Bipu鈥檚 bank accounts. He was also a trustee of the institute.
CRI became visible in the year 2010 while implementing various agendas of the party and formation of public opinion.
In 2014, an organisation called 鈥榊oung Bangla鈥� was established.
The 鈥楯oy Bangla Youth Award鈥� was launched under the supervision of CRI at the youth entrepreneur and institutional level and the 鈥楯oy Bangla Concert鈥� was organised centering on Bangabandhu鈥檚 March 7 speech.
Recently, a list of CRI payments to 8 journalists went viral on social media.
