
The Body Puppet Theatre performance titled Invisible Stories: The Incredible Exodus of the Mangrove Ghosts was staged at Alliance Fran莽aise de Dhaka on Saturday.
Produced by Alliance Fran莽aise de Dhaka, the play was performed by two Bangladeshi artists Diana Meriline and Md Farhad Ahmed.
Written and directed by French puppeteer Laurie Cannac, the play was staged to mark the 65th anniversary of Alliance Fran莽aise de Dhaka.
Laurie Cannac, a solo puppeteer trained at the Th茅芒tre-Ecole du Passage of Niels Arestrup and Alexandre del Perugia, was inspired by Bangladeshi ghost stories for their weird aspects and deep meanings.
The performance was her tribute to the accuracy of popular wisdom of Bangladesh towards respect to nature, in an ecological tale enlightened by the liveliness, optimism and depth of Bangladeshi people.聽
The play revolves round two scientists studying the impact of ghosts on everyday life in Dhaka but after their visit to Khulna they face the wilderness and wisdom of Sunderban.
The play comprises diverse oral traditions that covering all religious communities, ghost stories, and other supernatural elements of the county.聽
Diana Meriline and Md Farhad Ahmed both have been working with Prachyanat Theater for a long time.
The play premiered on Friday at the same venue.
