Family members of the deceased and injured in the student-led mass uprising on Sunday demanded justice and a complete list of martyred.

They also expressed their frustrations over the government as many of the involved persons in killing students and people flee from the country.

They made the remarks at a discussion session, organised by the Jatrabari unit of Jatiya Nagarik Committee, at community centre in Jatrabari, Dhaka.

Rahat, elder brother of Rohan, who was killed during the movement in Jatrabari, said that many students and people sacrificed their lives to abolish fascism and corruption. Sacrifices of those martyred must not go in vain.

He also demanded justice for all the victims and exemplary punishment for the involved persons in killing people during the movement.

Father of martyred Miraj demanded that the government to make a complete list of martyred and take the work seriously.

There must not be any corruption in making the list, said the father.聽

Syeda Akhter, sister of Ahnaf Abir Ashrafullah, who was killed in Ashulia, expressed frustration over the interim government for its hitherto role to ensure justice to the victims.

She alleged that many involved persons in killing flee from the country as no steps were taken to arrest them.

Syeda also mentioned that ensuring better treatment and rehabilitation of the injured should be the first priority.

July Shaheed Smriti Foundation secretary and martyred Mir Mugdho鈥檚 twin brother Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho was present at the discussion and said that making the complete was taking time as the fascist government removed many documents of the victims.

People do not want to see the names of the accomplices of fascist government beside the names of martyred in the list. It takes time to verify all the information, said聽 Snigdho.

Jatiya Nagarik Committee convener Muhammad Nasiruddin Patwary, member secretary Akhter Hossen, spokesperson Samanta Shermeen and member Sarwar Tusher, among others were present at the programme for the families of deceased and injured in the movement.

The protests, which the students had held since July 1, flared into a mass uprising towards the end of the month, overthrowing the Awami League government on August 5.

The Directorate General of Health Services on September 24 came up with a preliminary list of 708 having died in the protests and subsequent uprising. The figure, however, could rise.
