Different political parties and organisations on Monday held separate rallies in Dhaka, protesting against Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Palestine.

The Palestine Solidarity Committee, Bangladesh held a rally at the base of the Anti-Violence Raju Memorial Sculpture on Dhaka University campus, while the Left Democratic Alliance held another rally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka, protesting against the Israeli genocide in Palestine and Lebanon.

Presided over by economist and former Jahangirnagar University professor Anu Muhammad, leaders of the solidarity committee demanded immediate stopping of Israeli attacks on the two countries.

Anu Muhammad called on the world community to be vocal in demand of expulsion of Israel from the United Nations for their atrocities.

He also pointed out that the chief adviser of the interim government during his United Nation General Assembly conference demanded stopping Israeli attacks on Palestine. ‘But, he did not condemn the role of the United States who has been patronising the Israeli attacks.’

Jatiya Mukti Council secretary Faiezul Hakim and central leader of the committee Harun Ur Rashid, among others, spoke at the rally, which was followed by a protest procession that parading different city roads ended at Nilkhet.

At the rally of the LDA, a combine of six political parties, the Communist Party of Bangladesh president Mohammad Shah Alam demanded the formation of a separate state for the Palestine people.

He also called on the world community to be vocal in demand of stopping Israeli atrocities.

‘The Israeli forces will not be able to stop movements of Palestine people,’ said the Democratic Revolutionary Party general secretary Mushrefa Mishu, adding that they would form a separate country.

Coordinator of the LDA and Socialist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist), Masud Rana, chaired the rally. He said that most of the democratic people were favouring the movement of the Palestine people.

The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
