Neither Tabith Awal nor Tarafder Ruhul Amin collected their nomination papers for the Bangladesh Football Federation鈥檚 presidential post, as the nomination paper distribution process for the October 26 BFF elections started on Wednesday.聽

The most prominent name who collected nomination papers on the opening day was Bashundhara Kings president Imrul Hasan.


Imrul, who is a vice-president of the outgoing executive committee of the BFF, collected his nomination paper to run for the same post from the BFF secretariat.

BFF鈥檚 current committee member, Iqbal Hossain, collected his nomination papers for both the vice-president and membership posts.

Event management company K-Sports owner Fahad Karim, Naser Shariar Jahedi, and Sabbir Ahmed Aref collected nomination papers for vice-president posts as a total of 25 aspirants, including 20 for membership posts, collected their nomination papers on the opening day of the nomination paper distribution, which will end on Saturday.

Tabith, a businessman and active member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, served BFF as a vice-president in two tenures since 2012 before losing in 2020 polls in the same post and announced his presidential candidacy on September 23.

Tarafder, also a seasoned businessman, has come forward to contest for the position on September 15 following current BFF president Kazi Salahuddin鈥檚 decision not to seek a fifth term as president of the federation a day before.

A total of 133 voters will give their mandates in the elections to form a 21-member committee comprised of one president, one senior vice-president, four vice presidents, and 15 members for four-year tenure.
