A Dhaka court on Thursday sent Tareque M Barkatullah, former director of the Data Centre, to jail in a case lodged for allegedly selling citizens’ National Identification information.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to keep him behind the bars till the end of probe.


Detective branch of Dhaka metropolitan police arrested Tareque M Barkatullah from the capital’s Kafrul area on Wednesday.

Earlier, Enamul Haque filed the case against 19 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s son and her ICT adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
