
The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh on Wednesday urged the government to establish a transparent and predictable legal and regulatory framework to attract potential foreign direct investment.
At a meeting with foreign ministry adviser Md Touhid Hossain, AmCham leaders also highlighted the need for the government to enhance the ease of doing business for US investors currently operating in the country, said a press release issued by the AmCham on Thursday.
During the meeting, AmCham president Syed Ershad Ahmed also emphasised the need for facilitating visa processing across several countries, highlighting its significance in supporting international business operations.
Adviser Md Touhid Hossain expressed his commitment to these matters, assuring the delegation that these issues were under active consideration. He also encouraged ongoing collaboration for necessary support, the release said.
The AmCham team reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening relationships with the foreign ministry and advocating for policies that enhance trade and investment in Bangladesh.
The AmCham president also presented ‘AmCham Recommendations: The Way Forward’ along with several research reports related to trade and business in Bangladesh.
Alongside AmCham president, the meeting was attended by Rubaba Dowla, country managing director for Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan at Oracle Corporation; Ala Uddin Ahmad, chief executive officer of MetLife; Habib Bhuiyan, country manager of Excelerate Energy Bangladesh Limited; Kabir Ahmed, chairman of Conveyor Logistics Limited; Momshad Ali Khan, director at Coca-Cola Bangladesh Limited; and Chowdhury Kaiser Mohammad Riyadh, secretary of AmCham Bangladesh.
