
Former vice-president of the Bangladesh Football Federation, Tabith Awal, on Thursday collected his nomination form through representative to run for the presidential post in the October 26 BFF elections.聽
NoFeL Sporting Club general secretary Shakhawat Hossain Bhuiyan Shahin collected nomination paper on behalf of Tabith, who is the founding and current president of the club.聽
Tabith, a businessman and active member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, served BFF as a vice-president in two terms in 2012 and 2016. He also participated in the 2020 elections but failed to secure the position.
Apart from Tabith, a grassroots football organiser from Dinajpur who is not well-known in the country鈥檚 football community, AFM Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury also collected nomination paper for the presidential position.
Shafiqul Azam Bhuiyan, Sharif Uddin, and Manjurul Karim collected nomination papers to contest for executive member posts.聽
The nomination papers distribution proceedings that started on Wednesday saw a total of 30 nomination papers sold so far.
Two for presidential posts, one for senior vice-president, four for vice-president and 23 for membership posts were sold until Thursday.聽
A total of 133 voters will give their mandates in the elections to have a 21-member committee comprised of one president, one senior vice-president, four vice presidents, and 15 members for four year tenure.
Tarafder Ruhul Amin, a seasoned businessman and outspoken critic of BFF鈥檚 incumbent and four-time president, Kazi Salahuddin, declared his presidential candidacy on September 15 but has yet to gather his nomination papers.
The nomination papers distribution proceedings will end on Saturday.
