The police have arrested a man at Chatmohar Police Station in Pabna for Facebook posts that allegedly insulted Islam.
The man, Atiqur Rahman Sagar, 32, son of Ataur Rahman of Baruria village in the upazila surrendered to the police station Thursday morning as locals became angry with him after noticing the Facebook post.
The police said that Atiqur posted two statuses insulting Islam on his Facebook page on October 9 and locals became angry when they noticed it and demanded his punishment.
They said that Atiqur, sensing the locals鈥� anger came to the police station to calm the situation.
Chatmohar Police Station officer-in-charge Manjurul Alam said that they arrested the man Thursday morning and that appropriate legal measures would be taken against him.
