At least 20 people wearing uniforms of the Bangladesh Army and Rapid Action Battalion robbed Tk 50-60 lakh and 50-60 bharis of gold from the second floor of a five-storey building in the capital’s Mohammadpur area early Saturday.

Confirming the matter to ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·, Mohammadpur police station officer-in-charge Iftekhar Hasan said that the incident took place at about 3:30am on Saturday in a building near Noor Birani under the police station’s jurisdiction.


‘The robbers took away the money in the name of raid wearing Army uniforms and RAB waistcoats. They took about Tk 50-60 lakh and 50-60 bharis of gold. We have assumed that about 20 people were involved in the robbery analysing CCTV footage,’ the OC said.

He said that they were investigating the matter.

The victim, Abu Company, is a businessperson. He and his five brothers live in the building.

The police officer said that the victim would file a case in this regard.

He also said that none was arrested so far in the incident.
