
The police on Sunday arrested a woman named Ruhena Akhtar Lubna, 22, on charge of beating up children for entering a puja mandap at Kulaura in Moulvibazar.
She was arrested at the Bijaya Tea Garden puja mandap area under Jayachandi union in the upazila.
The arrested Lubna, wife of Alamin, a resident of Rangpur district, visited her maternal grandfather鈥檚 house in Kamarkandi area of Jayachandi.
The police said that the security guard of the tea garden saw Lubna roaming in the area and informed the police on Saturday night.
Later, the police kept her near the garden in the night.
Lubna woke up in the morning and entered the puja mandap and beat the children.
Kulaura upazila nirbahi officer Mohiuddin, among others, went to the spot and arrested Lubna.
Kulaura police station inspector (investigation) Abdur Razzak said that Lubna was sent to the court, and the court sent her to jail.
He also alleged that Lubna was mentally unstable.
Moulvibazar court inspector Sibendra Chandra Das said that she was sent to the district鈥檚 jail.
