The Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki at a mass dialogue in Barishal has called on the interim government to work towards making the country free from discrimination.
He made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at the dialogue organised by the party at the Aswini Kumar Hall in the city on Thursday night.
Criticising the fascist Awami League government for only emphasising their development achievements, ignoring the rising number of homeless people, Saki said that the poor people were forced to sleep on streets and sidewalks.
He also emphasised the need to cancel the Article 70 of the constitution, stating, ‘The prevailing wealth disparity among the masses has occurred because, under the article, whoever holds power, becomes the sole possessor of all authority.’
The power of the president and the prime minister should be balanced to ensure accountability and the parliament should be bicameral, Saki stressed.
Mentioning that the prices of goods have skyrocketed, he added that the interim government was unable to lower them due to the influence of past syndicates.
He also called for increasing budget allocations in education and health, ensuring housing for all citizens, and granting full status to all teachers, including primary school teachers.
The dialogue was presided over by the party’s district coordinator, Dewan Abdur Rashid Nilu.Â
