A day-long photo exhibition featuring diverse river landscapes of the country held at the Rajshahi Shilpakala Academy in the district on Saturday.

With a view to creating awareness among people about the vital role of the river ecosystem, the exhibition was jointly organised by a transdisciplinary research platform focusing on water, climate, ecosystem and development studies, Delta Research Initiative, Khulna University Photography Society, and Bangladesh Environment and Development Society.

With the support of the Netherlands embassy in Dhaka, 96 photos and digital arts were displayed in the exhibition, highlighting the intricate network of distributaries, estuaries, and tidal flats that sustain the country’s socio-economy, people’s lives, and livelihoods.

Sakibul Huq Saki, an organiser, said that they had organised the exhibition to make people aware about the diversifications of the rivers.

‘We are destroying our rivers by polluting them continuously. We have organised the exhibition to inform people about how our lives are interlinked with the rivers,’ he added.
