High Commissioner of India in Dhaka Pranay Verma on Sunday that they were working to resume regular visa processing from Bangladesh, but it would take more time.
He said this while talking to reporters after paying a call on Bangladesh foreign secretary Md Jashim Uddin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where they discussed issues related to Indian visa operations and projects under the Indian Line of Credit among others.
‘The bilateral issues featured during the meeting included status of return of the Indian workforce to Bangladesh who had been engaged in a few LOC Projects, status of Indian visa operations and renewal of Revised Travel Arrangement,’ said a press release issued by the foreign ministry.
They also discussed early consular access for Indian Fishermen who were detained in Bangladesh last week, repatriation of Bangladeshi fishermen, who had been detained by the Indian authorities in mid-September and holding of meetings of regular bilateral mechanisms including the Foreign Office Consultations, the release added.
Issuance of regular Indian visas from Bangladesh has remained suspended following the ouster of the authoritarian regime of Sheikh Hasina who fled to India on August 5 for shelter amid a student-led mass uprising.
