The Gulshan Society organised an event titled Pink October Afternoon to build cancer awareness among community people at the Gulshan Lake Park on Friday.

Organised in collaboration with TishCAN and Renata PLC, breast cancer survivors, experts, and community members attended the event to provide insights into breast cancer and introduce relevant facilities to the community.


A self-test training booth was set up by the United Hospital with instant consultation facility while representatives from LabAid and Mount Elizabeth Hospital were also present to provide essential information and share special offers.

Physician Lubna Marium, in a presentation as part of a panel discussion, explained the process and benefits of early detection of breast cancer.  

‘Gulshan Society’s pledge is to keep the community well, safe, secure and positive,’ said Srabanti Datta, convener of the event.

Gulshan Society president Barrister Omar Sadat, United Hospital’s physician Ashim Sengupta, palliative care pioneer Rumana Dowla, breast surgeon Shifat Tanjila, mental health counsellor Lazina Amin, director of Mt Elizabeth Hospital (Bangladesh office) Zahid H Khan and breast cancer survivor and founder of TishCAN Nuzhat Tarannum took part in the discussion, which was moderated by Tanzia Bonhi.  Â
