The electoral reform commission on Tuesday opened a website, an email address and a Facebook page, inviting public opinions.
‘This commission is eager to get valuable suggestions, opinions, and proposals from everyone with the aim of conducting free, participatory, and impartial national and local elections,’ said a press release issued by the commission.
In this regard, interested citizens were requested to send their specific and experience-based opinions on electoral system reforms via either the email address [email protected] or website https://erc.ecs.gov.bd and Facebook page www.facebook.com/ercbd2024.
Responders were also requested to send their suggestions, opinions and proposals to the electronic platforms by November 15, 2024.
The commission’s website has shelved an opinion form where responders have to text in a box and upload their feedback either in pdf or image format. If anyone wishes to keep personal identity confidential, they will be able to do so.
The website features its 10 ‘scopes of work’ including reviewing the election-centric instructions in the constitution, Representation of People Order 1972, candidacy forms, existing electoral process, and others.
The commission members’ profiles are also featured in the website.
Earlier on October 14, the Anti-Corruption Commission reform commission created an email address [email protected], requesting citizens to send their recommendations by October 30.
The constitution reform commission, at its maiden meeting on October 13, also decided to open an email account and a website for public communication.
