Bangladesh face five-time champions India in their second and final Group A match of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 today with a hope of at least a point, as it will propel the defending champions into the semi-finals of the tournament.

The match is scheduled to begin at 5:45pm at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu.

Bangladesh played a 1-1 draw against Pakistan on Sunday, while India have already sealed their spot in the last four of the seven-team tournament with a 5-2 win over Pakistan in the group opener on October 17.

On the other hand, forward Shamsunnahar Jr saved Bangladesh’s blushes by scoring an injury time equaliser against Pakistan.

Defender Kohati Kisku promised to give a good show against India.

‘As our semi-final fate depends on the outcome of tomorrow’s [Wednesday] match, we will go to ensure it. We will take the ground to win the match,’ Kohati told the media after Tuesday’s training session.

Meanwhile, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan were fighting for the semi-final spots in Group B following the Maldives’ 11-0 and 1-0 defeats to Nepal and Sri Lanka, respectively.

In the other two games, Nepal and Bhutan played a goalless draw before Bhutan beat Sri Lanka 4-1 to keep their last-four hopes alive.
