Two people were shot at the administrative block of the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area in Dhaka on Thursday.
One of the injured was a staff of the hospital, said Mozammel Hoque, officer-in-charge of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station.
The police detained a person named Rony Sheikh Rubel, who was found with a pistol at the scene, said the OC.
Witnesses said that 10-12 unidentified people entered the hospital and suddenly gunshots were heard, he added.
Police, Bangladesh Army and Border Guard Bangladesh members went to the hospital after receiving the news.
The OC also said that it was primarily believed that the incident occurred over the business dispute at the hospital.
‘Rony told the police that he owned a fruit shop in front of the hospital,’ the OC said, adding that they were investigating the incident.
‘Efforts are on to arrest the persons involved in the incident,’ he mentioned.
