Chief of army staff general Waker-Uz-Zaman has been elected unopposed as the president of the Bangladesh Olympic Association, BOA said through a media release on Friday. 聽聽
The position got vacant after former army chief general SM Shafiuddin Ahmed resigned on October 1, nearly a year before the end of his four-year term.
National Sports Council secretary Aminul Islam completed the procedures as the chief election commissioner of the BOA president election 2024.聽
Waker will lead a 34-member executive committee comprised of one president, five vice presidents, one secretary general, three deputy secretary generals, one treasurer, and 23 members.聽
Waker is also the current president of the Bangladesh Golf Federation. Shafiuddin took the charge as the BOA president in December 2021. 聽
