Bowlers handed Dhaka Metro a crushing 10-wicket win over Rajshahi division inside the first two days of the second round of the National Cricket League at the BKSP-4 Ground, Savar, on Sunday.

Rakibul Islam鈥檚 eight-wicket haul (8-56) dismissed Rajshahi for 166 on day two, giving them a paltry 14-run to chase.


Then openers Anisul Islam (13) and Md Tahjibul Islam (1) guided them to an easy second straight win.

Starting the day on 138-5, Shamsur Rahman Shuvo extended his overnight score from 37 to 64 facing 165 balls, while Abu Haider Rony鈥檚 43 helped Metro post 233, taking a massive first-innings lead of 156 runs.

Metro pacer Maruf Mridha claimed 6-22 on his first-class debut to rattle down Rajshahi for 77 in the first innings on the opening day.

In another match, Sylhet were 130-2, chasing 220 runs for victory at the Sylhet Academy Ground.

Sylhet batters showed resilience in their second innings following a disappointing first innings total of 152, after Ifran Hossain鈥檚 fifer (5-34).

However, bowlers Nasum Ahmed, Rahman Rejaur Raja, and Nayeem Ahmed each claimed three wickets, helping Sylhet stage a comeback by restricting Chattogram to just 173 in their second innings.

Chasing the target, Taufiq Khan Tushar (51) and Zakir Hasan (36) gave Sylhet a decent start to add 84 runs for the opening stand.聽

Sylhet still required 90 runs, with Amite Hasan and Pinak Ghosh unbeaten on 23 and 14 runs, respectively, at the end of the second day鈥檚 play.

At the BKSP-3, Dhaka reached 70-1 in response to Rangpur鈥檚 253 in the first innings, trailing by 183 runs at stumps.

Ashikur Rahman Shibli and Joyraj Sheikh were batting on 45 and 18 runs.

Earlier in the day, captain Abdullah Al Mamun鈥檚 68 helped Rangpur set a solid total after the first day was abandoned due to a wet outfield.

In Khulna, the host managed to put 130-1 as only 34.2 overs were possible during the rain-hit match.
