Three were injured after a car ran over a group of students on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway near the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Sunday.
The accident occurred near the flyover in front of the third terminal of the airport at about 1:00pm, said Ershad Hamid, officer-in-charge of the Airport police station.
A video footage of the accident went viral on social media where netizens expressed concern over people鈥檚 safety on roads.
The footage shows that a group of students were walking along the roadside when a white private car suddenly approached from behind and struck them, pushing several students onto the road and causing injuries.
Airport police station officer-in-charge Ershad said that two of the injured sustained broken legs and one sustained a minor head injury.
鈥極ne of them was released from the hospital while other two were undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation,鈥� he said.
The private car was seized and the driver was detained, the police official said, adding that taking legal procedure regarding the incident was underway.
