
At least four people were killed in road accidents in Gazipur, Rajshahi, Narail and Jhenaidah on Tuesday.
抖阴精品 correspondent in Gazipur reported that a driver of a pick-up van died after he hit an electric pole losing control over the wheel on the Tongi-Kaliganj road in the Nalsata area under Kaliganj Thana on Tuesday.
The deceased is Muktadir, 32, of Nabiganj upazila in the Habiganj district.
Kaliganj police station officer-in-charge Md Alauddin said that it was suspected the driver lost control due to drowsiness.
抖阴精品 correspondent in Rajshahi reported that a seven-year-old girl was killed after a passenger-bus hit the battery-powered rickshaw by which she was travelling in the Rajshahi city on Tuesday.
The deceased is Mariya Akter Juthi, daughter of Hasan Molla of the Meherchandi area in the city.
According to witnesses, the bus hit the auto-rickshaw carrying Hasan鈥檚 wife along with their two daughters when it reached Vadra Bus Stand at around 12:30pm, leaving Maria critically injured on the road.
Maria was left dead on the spot as the passenger bus ran over her, said Mehedi Masud, officer-in-charge of the Boalia police station.
An angry mob vandalised six to seven passenger-buses and one truck following the incident, said Md Emon Hossain, chain master of Vadra inter-district bus ticket counter.
He said that the bus services from Rajshahi to Rangpur, Bogura, Natore, Pabna, Kushtia, and other districts were suspended till 4:30pm due to security reasons as the mob vandalised the inter-district bus ticket counter.
Later, members of the army, police, and the crisis response team of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that an elderly man was killed after being crushed beneath a passenger bus at Lohagara upazila of Narail district on Tuesday.聽
The deceased, Harez Mollah, 72, hailed from Gilatola village of the upazila, said Lohagara police station officer-in-charge Ashikur Rahman.
Local people said the accident took place at around 9:00am in the Boshupoti area on the Narail-Dhaka Highway, leaving him dead on the spot.
In another incident, a girl was killed as a motorcycle hit her in Naldanga Bazar area under Sadar upazila of the Jhenaidah district on Tuesday, the BSS reported.
The deceased is Fatema Khatun, 09, daughter of Nayan, hailed from Naldanga village.
Naldanga police camp in-charge, assistant sub-inspector Khorshed Ali said that the accident took place at around 1:30pm when she was crossing Kaliganj-Naldanga road, leaving her injured.
Critically wounded Fatema was rushed to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex where she breathed her last.
