Dhaka City College will remain closed for two more days on Wednesday and Thursday as the college authorities have yet to take decision following students’ demand for the resignation of its acting vice-principal.
Dhaka University physics professor and governing body president ABM Obaidul Islam told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that meetings were held on Tuesday among the governing body, teachers and student representatives.
‘We addressed most of their valid demands. We have asked for two more days to take decision about vice-principal’s resignation,’ said Obaidul.
‘A decision has been taken to close the college during the time,’ added Obaidul.
The college was closed on Tuesday following the daylong students’ protest on Monday demanding resignation of its acting principal Kazi Neamul Hoq and vice-principal Muklasur Rahman.
The other demands of the students included an end to repression on teachers in the name of reform, an end to harassment of the guardians and an end to taking extra money in the name of different fees.
Obaidul, however, said that students had some objections to the vice-principal continuing in his position.
