
Around four cleaners of Dhaka North City Corporation were injured in a cocktail explosion at the camp for Urdu speaking people in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh on Wednesday morning.
The victims are Md Alamgir Hossain, 36, Md Yasin, 40, Asad Mia, 58,and Saiful Islam, 48.
The DNCC public relations officer Mokbul Hossain said that the injured were receiving treatment at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.
The DNCC secretary Md Mahmudul Hasan visited the hospital and assured that the city authority would bear cost of treatment for the injured, Mokbul added.
‘The incident took place at about 11:00am. We are monitoring the camp closely,’ said Mohammadpur police station officer-in-charge Ali Iftekhar Hasan.
He also said that the army had detained two people in two separate drives and handed them over to the police station.
The army set up two camps in Mohammadpur area and another temporary camp was jointly set up by the police and army at Mohammadpur Government High School for monitoring the camp of Urdu speaking people in Mohammadpur.
The army, Rapid Action Battalion and police have been conducting raids since Sunday as the law and order situation in the Mohammadpur area deteriorated.
Around 34 people were arrested on Monday and 29 of them were produced before court while 45 were arrested on Sunday in joint drives and 30 of them were sent to jail through court orders.
At least 29 were arrested on Tuesday.
