Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Thursday chalked out a 10-day programme to observe National Revolution and Solidarity Day marking the civil-military uprising on November 7, 1975.
The party said it would observe the day this time extensively to highlight the day鈥檚 significance and true history to the younger generation.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programmes at a press conference at the party鈥檚 Nayapaltan central office after a joint meeting of the party and its associate bodies.
As part of the programmes, he said that their party flag would be hoisted atop all offices of the party across the country in the morning of November 7 while BNP senior leaders will place wreaths and offer fateha at the grave of late president and party founder Ziaur Rahman at 10:00am.
The party will also arrange a discussion meeting on November 6, marking the day. The venue for the programme will be announced later.
BNP will also bring out a rally in front of the party鈥檚 Nayapaltan central office at 4:00pm on November 8. He said that they chose to schedule the programme on a weekly holiday to avoid public inconvenience.
Fakhrul said similar rallies would be brought out in every divisions of the country.
He said that the BNP鈥檚 cultural wing Jasas would arrange a cultural programme at the Central Shaheed Minar at 6:00pm on November 7.
Besides, BNP鈥檚 associate bodies and all units will hold various programmes, including discussions, cultural programmes, essay competitions, photo exhibitions and publishing supplements in newspapers, across the country to mark the day with due respect.
Amid political turmoil, soldiers and civilians on November 7, 1975 jointly freed then chief of army staff Ziaur Rahman from captivity in Dhaka cantonment, paving the path for Zia to come to power.
