Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition and Department of Agricultural Extension jointly organised a nutrition campaign as part of the Diversified Resilient Agriculture for Improved Food and Nutrition Security project at Dinajpur Sadar on Thursday.

Jointlyfunded by the Bangladesh Government and GAFSP/IFAD, in order to promote farmers’ health and nutrition, 300 youth and women farmers from Birganj, Biral, Chirirbandar and Dinajpur Sadar took part in the campaign.


Marking the World Food Day 2024, the nutrition campaign was organised to raise public awareness of the importance of eating a healthy diet that included all the ingredients required for optimal health and to raise awareness of the need to eat a balanced diet, emphasising health benefits through daily dietary diversification and sharing nutritional information with farmers on food and nutrition, said a press release.

This campaign raised awareness among the farmers by organising a rally, a stage plays with nutrition messages, nutrition song, demonstration of safe methods of cooking for safety and hygiene and quizzes.

Additional director of Dinajpur region Department of Agricultural Extension Mohammad Hamidur Rahman, deputy director of Dinajpur district DAE Mohammad Nuruzzaman, district training officer Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, project director of RAINS project Muhammad Emdadul Haque, deputy project director Md Habibur Rahman, deputy project director of SACP RAINS project Syed Abu Siam Zulkarnain, upazila nirbahi officer Faisal Raihan, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University professor Anwara Akhtar Khatun, Dinajpur Sadar agriculture officer Mohammad Asaduzzaman and upazila agriculture officers of Birganj, Biral, Chirirbandar and Dinajpur Sadar were also present.
