Leaders of the Revolutionary Communist League on Friday at a rally in Dhaka called on the interim government to take immediate steps to reduce price hikes of essential commodities as common people were suffering much to run their families with limited incomes.

Chaired by the RCL central leader Nazrul Islam, the rally was organised in front of the National Press Club.


Nazrul Islam said that the interim government had already failed to control abnormal price hikes of the essential commodities in their about three month rule.

The sufferings of the common people would increase if the interim government could not control the price hikes breaking the syndicates, he said.

The RCL central leader Harun Ur Rashid said that the aims of recent students and people movement might fail without controlling the law and order and price hikes of the essentials.

Another central leader Shamim Imam called on the Professor Muhammad Yunus-led government to hold the next general elections as early as possible.

The rally, conducted by another central leader Ikbal Kabir, was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
