
Religious and national minorities’ leaders on Saturday at a mass rally in Dhaka demanded the implementation of their 8-point and stopping repressions on them.
A combine of 40 religious and national minorities, the Minority Oikya Morcha, also called on the Indian government not to intervene in any issues of religious minorities of Bangladesh at the rally at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Chairing the rally, Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council president Nirmal Rozario called on the interim government to implement the demands of the minorities.
The demands include enacting a minority safety law, formation of minority commission and separate ministry, implementation of vested property law and enacting an anti-discrimination law.
Until the implementation of the demands, Minority Oikya Morcha will continue its movements, Nirmal Rozario mentioned.
He also urged the government to take steps to stop repressions on the minorities. ‘We call on the interim government to withdraw the murder cases field against religious minority leaders Rana Dasgupta and Chinmoy Krishna Das.’
Religious minority leader Subrata Chowdhury said that the minorities of the country were deprived of their rights over the past 53 years.
Calling on the Indian government not to intervene in any issue of religious minorities of Bangladesh, he said, ‘We will resolve our problems.’
Minority leader Bashudeb Dhar called on the minority people to be united for realising their rights.Â
Another religious minority leader Jayanta Kumar Deb called on the students and youths of the minority community to be organised for realising their demands.
The rally was followed by a protest procession that ended in front of the National Press Club parading different city roads.
