The Democracy International has recently organised an event titled Amio Jitte Chai featuring discussion and theatrical performance at the Rajshahi College auditorium.

Funded by the USAID, the campaign aimed at inspiring young people to take action on social issues in their communities, said a press release on Sunday.

Discussants encouraged young people to raise their voices against injustice and irregularities, emphasising the importance of youth advocating for their rights and standing up for fairness.

Rajshahi University public administration department professor Parvez Azharul Haque stressed the need to highlight societal disparities and advocate for democracy during the event.

He also urged everyone to commit to building the nation together and to overcome apathy and all forms of injustice. ‘Silence contributes to inequality and irregularities.’

Gulam Mustafa Mamun, vice-president of the Multi-Party Advocacy Forum in Rajshahi, reflected on the youth’s significant role during the July-August uprising, where they made their presence felt on the streets.

Tajmultan Tutul, joint secretary of the advocacy forum, urged everyone to stand up against any form of injustice. ‘The country belongs to its citizens, and it is their responsibility to voice their concerns and advocate for the nation’s future.’

Conducted by Ashek Tanvir Anik, Democracy International programme assistant, at the beginning of the campaign, Democracy International communications officer Sohrab Hossain introduced the campaign, outlining its objectives and significance in promoting civic engagement and advocacy.

Under the USAID Strengthening Political Landscape project, Democracy International is implementing the campaign, conducting various programmes across the country’s districts and campuses.
