
Indian Khasia people shot a Bangladeshi youth to death on Sylhet border on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased was Jamir Ahmed, 23, son of Abdul Mannan of Ghilatail village at Jaintapur upazila in the district, police said.
Local residents said that the victim went near the international border pillars 1286-1287 along Tipakhola-Ghilatail border at Nijpat union under the Jaintapur upazila at around 3:00pm.
The Khasia tribesmen of Meghalaya state of India opened fires on him at that moment from across the border, leaving him critically injured, they said.
The locals told 抖阴精品 that they rescued Jamir from the spot in a critical condition after the incident and took him to Jaintapur Upazila Health Complex.
The attending doctor of the health complex, however, declared him dead on arrival, the local residents said.
Jaintapur Police Station officer-in-charge ABM Badruzzaman confirmed the death of Jamir to 抖阴精品.
He said in the evening that the victim鈥檚 body was sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Border Guard Bangladesh鈥檚 48 Battalion commandant Md Hafizur Rahman did not receive phone calls despite repeated effort to connect him in the evening to make a comment in this regard.
