Independent University, Bangladesh computer science and engineering department student Amit Bikram Roy has recently become champion in the chess segment of the Dhaka Residential Model College 1st National Math Summit.

Competing against 136 participants from educational institutions across the country, Amit clinched the title in the tournament held at the DRMC on October 17, said a press release on Wednesday.


Amit鈥檚 current rating is 2070. He is ranked among the top 30 chess players in Bangladesh and is actively pursuing his FIDE master norm.

Justin Mathias, an IUB general management student, also secured fourth place in the tournament.

Besides, the IUB English and modern languages department student Mehrab Al Maksud reached the quarterfinals, and CSE department Mohiul Alamwho advanced to the top 32.

The DRMC 1st National Math Summit, which brought together students from schools, colleges, and universities, featured rigorous competition in chess as a part of its academic and extracurricular lineup.
