
A woman was killed reportedly after being stabbed by her son in their house at Uttara in the capital on Sunday morning.
The victim is Dinu Begum, 40, a resident of Gauripur upazila in Mymensingh.
Dinu is survived by her husband, three daughters and a son, and the family is living at a rented house in the Baunia area in the capital’s Uttara.Â
The incident took place at about 5:30am on Sunday and the victim was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition where the doctor on duty declared her dead at about 6:30am, according to witnesses and police.
‘My son Zihad is unemployed. He sought money from his mother in the morning and my wife said that she did not have money as she was not earning. My son got furious and stabbed his mother,’ victim’s husband Nurul Amin said.
DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Faruk said that they kept the body in the hospital morgue.
‘We have informed the police of the incident,’ Faruk added.
Turag police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Rahat Khan told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the process of filing a case with the police station was under way.
‘We could not arrest the son as he went into hiding after the incident,’ the OC added.
