The three-day international conference on ‘Recent innovations in civil engineering and architecture for sustainable development’ was held on Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology campus in Gazipur.

The closing ceremony of the conference, organised by DUET’s faculty of civil engineering, was attended by chief sponsor and vice-chancellor of the university professor Mohammad Zoynal Abedin at a Dhaka hotel Saturday evening.


The sponsor and pro-vice-chancellor of the university professor Md Arefin Kawsar, was also present at the event. The event was chaired by dean of the faculty of civil engineering professor Mohammad Nazim Uddin, and the conference secretary professor Mohd Abu Tayyab, also spoke at the event, and the keynote speaker was Yuwa Takahashi, associate professor of the department of civil engineering, University of Tokyo, Japan.

The event was co-chaired by professor Mohammad Alauddin, professor Md Abdus Salam and head of the department of architecture professor Bayezid Ismail Chowdhury.

At the event, 7 keynote speeches and more than 112 technical papers were presented on various topics. Awards were given to the best research paper presenters selected in various categories at the closing ceremony.

The programme was hosted by Tasnim Nishat Oishi, lecturer of the department of civil engineering of DUET, and Sunila Binte Ahsan, lecturer of the department of architecture.
